Ayrewolf advisory: As I begin to double down on life and my duties as your XO I Travel a lot reviewing things and places of service and leisure.
We all love to stash the grandkids in the Byrd of choice and venture to places few others get to go. Yet there are stay overs and places not to stay over. Unless by required to stay over.
So in the prognosis of a place in Burley Idaho that needs a rethink in terms of its policies.
Stayed at the Budget Motel. While the afternoon and evening desk clerks are great, the gal in the morning especially on a Sunday morning needs to be adjusted in attitude.
Free breakfast. During the week I can see a termination of free breakfast at 09:00 but on a weekend especially Sunday a few minutes of free breakfast would be a cost effective way of doing business. Went to get a mini bowl of cereal. Found that the cabinet for the 2% milk locked. Twisted the knob and took out 4 mini milks. The 80% Mexican gal about threw a fit. Got 1 milk.went to my room ate. Then came back for a cup and I mean mini cup of Java. No Java. Filled a few drops of caffinated then filled the rest of the mini cup with un caffinated. You'd think I was trying to rob a bank there. Sheesh. Would it take a Presidential law to allow a bit of leeway to where I could get an few more milks and for the lazy broad to make a full pot of coffee so an old Marine could at least wake up on a Sunday?
It may be budget and the rates are in line but jumping a Colonel's butt wanting a few more milks 🥛 and a bigger bowl of cereal would be Veteran Friendly.
Not a recommended place at least until better bunch of staff is hired and an attitude adjustment.
I can sleep just about anywhere. After the many months of snoozing in the General I get better sleep in my cockpit than I do on a big bed. The only things I can't do in the Genetal is poop, piss, and shower. So once maybe twice a month I stay a motel Clean up and get it done.
The hidden costs of the stay is what gets you. You have to ask for a Military discount and for us older guys you have to make sure the clerk understands the need for a Seniors Discount. Or you end up paying full price. I may not be popular there any longer but I do speak my mind.
As you know we as Aviators don't ask for praise or a thank you but a little respect for our service would go a long way.
We had the nuts to strap on a set of wings and fly into combat to defend this idiotic nation. Some of us even put a set of blades on our heads and fly those. In any case a lot of respect and a hand up would be a plus. Don't just say thank you for your service, prove it. Buy a meal for a Veteran, pay a cell phone bill for a Veteran, even rent him or her a room or apartment at a reduced rate. That's showing us a thank you for our service. Like it says in the good book faith without action is just hot air.
My opinion I could be wrong.
